Centre for Ethnobotanical and Ethnopharmacological Studies (CEE) - UNIFESP

CEE belongs to Universidade Federal de São Paulo and its mission is to provide favorable structure and scientific environment for the formation of researchers in Ethnopharmacology and Ethnobotany.

Developing scientific knowledge that valorize the national flora and fauna; allowing its comprehensive protection and the development of new active compounds as well as new potential uses of flora within the modern paradigms of sustainability, legality and ethics.

Valuing the accumulated knowledge of the relationship between man and environment; seeking the scientific basis for the traditional medicine practices with a better understanding of its risks and limitations, and a greater knowledge about the flora and its many possibilities of use, as well as medicinal.

In addition, the CEE is premised on the realization of collaborations with research groups from the fields of botany, zoology, pharmacology, anthropology, phytochemistry and agronomy; in order to develop studies with different approaches about animal and plant resources used by different cultures.
